What you are getting
Planning figures and explanatory writing about ductless heat pump systems, free of charge and without registration. Using the site means accepting what follows. If you do not accept it, the remedy is to stop reading, which costs nothing.
This is not professional advice
Nothing here is engineering, contracting, legal or tax advice, and no relationship of professional reliance is created by reading it. Sizing equipment for a specific building requires a room-by-room load calculation performed by someone who has seen the building. Installing it requires a licensed contractor working to your local code. Claiming a tax credit requires whoever prepares your return. The pages here are meant to make those conversations better informed, not to replace any of them.
Accuracy, and its limits
Every figure is traced to a named source with a retrieval date, and where a number is our own arithmetic or our own assumption it is labelled as such. That process is described in full on the methodology page and it is genuinely more careful than the norm — but it does not make the figures right for your house.
Published sources change without notice, cost data is national and survey-based rather than local and audited, weather data is a single recent year, and the tables everything rests on describe typical cases rather than yours. Estimates on this site are not quotes, not offers, and not a promise that a contractor will charge anything similar.
Use it however you like
Read it, print it, take it to a contractor, quote it in an argument with one. If you republish substantial parts of the writing, a link back is the courteous thing. What you may not do is scrape the site to build a competing table of figures stripped of their sources, because a number without its provenance is exactly the thing this site exists to stop circulating.
Links out
Pages link to the sources behind their figures. Those sites are not ours, are not endorsed by us beyond the specific figure cited, and have their own terms and privacy practices. A link is a citation, not a recommendation.
Liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, and we are not liable for loss arising from decisions made in reliance on it. That includes equipment bought, contracts signed, and money spent. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you paid to use this site, which is nothing.
Availability
Pages may be changed, corrected or removed at any time, and there is no undertaking that the site stays online or that any particular page persists. Corrections in particular happen without ceremony — a wrong number gets fixed as soon as it is found, and the editorial policy describes how.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
