Privacy policy

The short version
This site is static pages and calculators that run in your browser. It has no accounts, no login, no comments, no newsletter and no shopping basket, so there is very little for it to know about you and it does not go looking.
The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser and do not transmit or store the numbers you enter.
That is worth being concrete about. When you type a room area, a state or a head size into a worksheet, the arithmetic happens on your device. Nothing is posted anywhere, nothing is written to storage, and closing the tab ends it. This is not a policy commitment that could be quietly reversed; it is a consequence of the site having no server to send anything to.
What we collect directly
Nothing, through any form on this site, because there is no form on this site. The contact page gives an email address rather than a contact form, precisely so that reaching us does not require handing your details to a script. If you email, we hold that message in an ordinary mailbox for as long as it takes to deal with it, and we do not add you to anything.
Server logs
The pages are served by a hosting provider which, like every web host, records ordinary request information — the address requested, the time, an IP address, a user-agent string — for security and operational purposes. We do not build profiles from those records and do not combine them with anything else.
Advertising
The paragraph that follows is generated from the same build flag that decides whether any advertising script is included in the page, so it cannot describe a state the code is not in.
No advertising code runs on this site today.
If Google AdSense is approved and enabled, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site or other sites where consent permits personalization.
Visitors can control personalized Google advertising at https://adssettings.google.com and can review industry opt-out choices at https://www.aboutads.info.
Those Google-operated controls exist independently of this site and work whether or not this site shows ads.
Consent and your privacy choices
A consent manager exists to record a decision about advertising cookies. With no ad code on the page there is no decision to record, and shipping a consent banner anyway would be theatre.
No consent management platform runs on this site today, because there is no advertising code to consent to.
If this site is approved for Google AdSense, advertising will ship together with Google's certified consent management platform (AdSense Privacy and messaging with Consent Mode v2), which shows a consent message to visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, and a US states privacy message where state privacy laws apply; declining the US states privacy message means Google serves ads under restricted data processing.
The "Privacy choices" link in the footer of every page currently opens this section of the privacy policy; once the consent platform is live, the same link will reopen the consent manager and will serve as the opt-out-of-sharing mechanism under applicable US state privacy laws.
What third parties collect
The honest answer here is short, because a page with no third-party script on it gives third parties nothing to work with.
What third parties collect: no advertising vendor collects anything from your visit today, because no ad code runs on this site.
If Google AdSense approves this site and ads begin serving, advertising vendors, including Google, may collect cookie and device identifiers and activity data to serve and measure ads — identifiers that can constitute personal information under state law — and this policy will be updated in the same deploy.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
If ads ever serve here and state law treats sharing data for targeted advertising as a "sale" or "sharing," the opt-out will be the "Privacy choices" footer link (restricted data processing) and the Google links above.
Analytics
Measurement is gated by its own build flag, separate from the advertising one, and it is off in the build you are reading.
This build of the site includes no analytics script — nothing counts or records your visit.
When analytics is enabled, it will be Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless service that does not use cookies or track you across sites, and this section will be updated in the same deploy.
Children
This is a home-improvement reference. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us something through the contact address, tell us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to know what personal information is held about you, to have it deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. Given how little this site holds, most such requests are answered by this page. For anything else, write to the address on the contact page and say which right you are exercising; we will not treat you differently for asking.
Changes
When the advertising or analytics stack changes, this page changes in the same deployment as the code — not afterwards — because the sections above are generated from the flags that control the code. Substantive changes update the review date at the top of the page.
